Concrete Pool Resurfacing in Perth
Innovation Pool Resurfacing a family run business located in Perth, Western Australia specialising in the renovation and restoration of Concrete Pools. Whether you want to resurface your pool, modify it or merely repair it, all work can be undertaken by our team of experts.
If your concrete pool is looking old, damaged, cracked, tired and worn then its time to invest into a renovation to bring it back to life! Leaving a concrete pool to age can often lead to long term effects such as damaging leaks, cracks, delamination of the plaster, pitting, as a result of a prolonged application of acid and other chemicals, plus exposure to years of harmful UV.
After 15 years in the industry we feel as though we have a solid understanding of all the components that go into producing a fantastic looking Pool that you can be proud of and thats going to stand the test of time in Perths harsh environment.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS INVOLVED IN RESURFACING A CONCRETE POOL?
There are a number of factors that come in to play when a Concrete pool restoration is being considered and they will all affect how the project is planned from start to finish. Thinking of the following will set you up for a seemless project from the get go.
– Will the water line tiles and or the pool coping/bullnosing need to be replaced.
– Is the pool area being upgraded with Paving or even a concrete poured aggregate finish and instead of pool bullnosing are you considering a poured aggregate bullnose with the infinity edge appearance..?
These are critical questions to be answered before undertaking the Pool Restoration due to the sequence in which the work will be undertaken. A clear plan at the outset of the concrete pool restoration will prevent scope changes and cost blowouts.

A TYPICAL CONCRETE POOL RENOVATION
Once drained the pool is inspected for any structural issues and potential areas of water leakage. It is very important to carefully inspect the skimmer box for any cracks or signs of degradation, given that the pool to be restored may be 20 plus years old and a skimmer box is only moulded plastic .
The pool plaster is then jackhammered off the pool shell to expose the existing concrete pool shell. If the waterline tiles are being replaced, the old tiles are simultaneously removed. The pool shell is then pressure cleaned and further examined for any potential problems such as cracking or concrete cancer. If found, these Pool repairs will be completed before the next stage of the process. All the tread tiles on the steps are also removed during the jackhammering.
Once all the Mosaic tiles have been applied and all pool repairs completed, the pool shell is again pressure washed and acid washed. The pool plaster is then applied. Weather conditions are very important at this stage and there should be no potential rainfall and just as importantly the temperature should be sufficient to assist in the curing process. It is our preference when resurfacing a concrete pool in Perth to complete the plastering between September and May, in order to prevent any problems that will affect the quality of our work and more importantly the long term health of the pool. There can be no shortcuts. All the return jets and suction fittings are replaced as part of the entire process.
Once the pool has been plastered, the following day it is acid bathed and then filled immediately, we recommend with scheme water. The timeframe from completion to the filling of the pool will depend on the temperature and range from eight to twenty four hours. Once the pool is full it will remain a Chlorine only pool and salt can only be added after the pool has been given time to cure.
The day after the Pool has been re-plastered, the pool is profesionally acid bathed in order to expose some of the stone in the plaster. The Pool is then immediately filled, and once full the start up chemicals can be added except Salt, which we only add four to six weeks after in order to allow additional curing of the plaster.
